Zebra Midge Black

The Zebra Midge is a minimalist nymph pattern designed to sink quickly and present a slim, high-contrast profile. Its simplicity—wire body and bead head—makes it exceptionally effective in clear water and during periods when trout are feeding selectively. The fly excels when fished deep under an indicator or as a dropper beneath a larger nymph. Insect Imitated The Zebra Midge imitates the larval and pupal stages of midges (family Chironomidae). Midges are present in nearly all trout waters and hatch year-round, making them a critical food source—especially when other aquatic insects are inactive.
